The IET Connect Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the sale of Speirs House, its single care home in South London, to Greensleeves Homes Trust. The Trust operates residential care homes for older people in sixteen locations in the Midlands, Southern and Eastern England.
The sale, which took place on 1 March 2010, will benefit existing residents as well as IET members and their dependants needing care in the future. The high level of care will continue and the care homes available to members and their relatives, will now reach a wider geographic area. Staff have also been transferred as part of the agreement.
Each Greensleeves home is unique, with settings ranging from a listed Georgian country house, to a modern purpose-built home in a London suburb. What is standard to all the homes, however, is a commitment to offer high quality care for older people in comfortable and affordable accommodation. Greensleeves aim to take account of individual needs, to respect residents' rights, dignity and privacy and to give them the maximum opportunity to exercise personal autonomy and choice.

A new Speirs Fund has been set up from the proceeds of the sale and will be used to address the care needs of IET members and their direct dependants at any location, typically towards:
- respite care
- long term care
- home care
- convalescence
